Travel Accessories I'm Adding to
My Alaska Cruise Packing List

In my last post, I shared what I'm packing for my first Alaska cruise and how I'm planning to avoid overpacking while still being prepared for changing weather and exciting shore excursions.
As our trip gets closer, I've been researching the smaller travel accessories that can make the journey a little smoother. While none of these items are absolutely essential, they can help with staying organized, protecting electronics, and making travel days more enjoyable.
Since this is our first Alaska cruise, I'm learning right alongside you. These are the accessories I'm planning to bring—or seriously considering—as I prepare for the adventure ahead.
Keeping Everything Organized
One of the biggest ways I reduce travel stress is by staying organized before I ever leave home.
I'm using my printable Travel Checklist to keep track of clothing, toiletries, travel documents, medications, and all those little items that are easy to forget. Having everything written down helps me feel confident that nothing important gets left behind.
I'm also planning to take the following:
Packing cubes to separate clothing by category
An electronic cord organizer to keep chargers and cables together
A toiletry bag with compartments for easy access
Luggage tags to help identify our bags during travel
Magnetic hooks for cruise cabin
These organizers don't take up much space, make packing & unpacking simpler, and finding things much easier.
One of the first items I decided to purchase for this trip was a set of compression packing cubes. I wanted a way to stay organized while also making the most of limited suitcase space. One feature that sold me on this compression packing cubes set is the claim to reduce the bulk of clothing up to 75%, making it easier to fit layers & travel accessories without feeling like I'm overpacking.
My current toiletry bag needed replaced, and I wanted something that would keep all of my travel essentials organized and ability to save on space by hanging up. I chose this hanging toiletry bag for its storage capacity, including larger pockets and smaller compartments designed to hold everything from skincare to toiletries to medications and travel-sized essentials. The hanging design appealed to me most making it easy to access without taking up precious counter space.
Keeping my travel tech organized
Whether I'm traveling by plane, cruise ship, or road trip, I like keeping my tech accessories together in one place. It saves me from digging through my bag looking for a charging cable or portable charger and makes unpacking once we arrive much easier.
This trip, I'm packing:
Portable power bank
Extra charging cables
One item I've really come to appreciate is my electronic cable organizer pouch. It keeps charging cords, adapters, and my portable power bank neatly organized in one place, so everything is easy to find whether I'm at the airport, in a hotel, or settling into our cruise cabin.
A Few Comfort Items
Sometimes it's the little things that make traveling more enjoyable.
A few comfort items on my list include:
Wireless earbuds
Crossbody bag
Reusable water bottle
A lightweight travel blanket was not originally on my packing list, but after hearing from several experienced Alaska cruisers, I've decided to add a travel blanket. Many mentioned that it comes in handy for relaxing on the balcony, watching glaciers from the deck, or staying warm during cooler travel days.
I chose a packable blanket that includes its own carrying bag, making it easy to attach to my suitcase without taking up valuable packing space. It seems like one of those small comforts that could make a big difference during the trip.
Still Researching
One thing I've learned while planning this trip is that everyone packs a little differently.
A few items I'm still deciding on include:
Over-the-door organizer
Waterproof daypack
Waterproof shoes or a waterproof spray for shoes
If you've cruised to Alaska before, I'd love to hear which travel accessories you found most useful.
I'm also researching binoculars for glacier viewing and wildlife spotting.
My Favorite Packing Tip
No matter where I'm traveling, my best packing tip is to start early.
Instead of waiting until the night before, I keep a running checklist and slowly gather everything over several weeks. It makes packing feel much less overwhelming and gives me time to remember anything I may have overlooked.
If you're planning your own trip, my printable Travel Checklist has become one of my favorite tools for staying organized from start to finish.
